With the playoffs closing in, the football season keeps getting more exciting. Last week – Week Eight of the regular season – offered several dramatic finishes for Frisco ISD teams.

*Centennial rallied from a 28-13 halftime deficit against Heritage to win 39-28 at the Ford Center. Titans quarterback Grayson Dayries threw three touchdown passes and Trysten Meadors scored on a 47-yard touchdown run on a fake punt with less than three minutes to play. For Heritage, Cameron Rose rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns and Kyle Bradford caught eight passes for 153 yards and a touchdown.

*Lone Star, the No. 1 team in the 5A Division I state rankings, survived a wild game at The Colony. The matchup of unbeaten teams featured nine lead changes, with the final one coming on Jake Bogdon’s 55-yard touchdown run with 4:22 left in the game. The win improved Lone Star to 7-0 on the season.

*Independence trailed Wakeland 21-17 in the third quarter before scoring touchdowns on back-to-back drives – one on quarterback Braylon Braxton’s 9-yard pass to Khi’Yon Wafer and another on Braxton’s 5-yard run – to take a 31-21 lead. Independence hung on for a 34-24 win. For Wakeland, Charlie Burkhart rushed for two touchdowns.
