The Centennial Titans kick off the 2019 season by hosting the Royse City Bulldogs in a non-district game at the Ford Center at 7:00 pm this evening. Royse City head coach David Petroff told the Greenville Herald Banner, "This is probably the most talented group we've had since I've been here in seven years. We feel like we have an answer this year." Offensively the Bulldogs return QB Tyson Oliver, running backs Bryce Martinez and Payton Petroff. Martinez and Petroff are both explosive players who run extremely hard. The offense will also be bolster by transfer Ketron Jackson. The 6'2" junior wide receiver moved in from Lancaster. The speedster ran on the Tigers 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams. Jackson has already attracted the interest of several Big XII and SEC colleges. The offensive line is led by 6'5" 220 Tyler Williams.
The Bulldog defense is led by Jamie Cortez who was named district defense player of the year in 2018. All-District linebackers Zamien Anderson and John Klump return to anchor the middle of the Bulldog defense. The Bulldog defense only allowed 17.9 points per game last year which led their district in 2018.
First team all-district kicker Anthony Ortiz returns to handle the kicking chores in 2019.
The Titans defeated the Bulldogs 27-6 in last year's opening game.
